The Walnut Creek, or San Francisco, or Seattle offices of Kilpatrick Townsend are seeking a full-time, entry-level Patent Engineer to join the Electronics & Software Patent Prosecution team. A Patent Engineer is a professional that will help prepare patent applications for inventions and responses to Office Actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and from foreign patent offices. Patent Engineering is suitable for individuals that enjoy learning about different inventions and who like to read and write. Patent engineers work towards certification as Patent Agents that are licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Starting salaries are competitive with other industries. The candidate will also be allowed to work remotely for a portion of the week. 

The successful candidate will be a recent graduate or scheduled to graduate in 2022 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics. Other degrees will be considered if the candidate has taken a reasonable number of programming courses and had obtained good grades in them. A strong mathematics background is necessary. A minimum GPA of 3.0 and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
