Kilpatrick Townsend is seeking a Counsel to join the office of General Counsel to reside in any of our offices Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Raleigh, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Walnut Creek, Washington DC, or Winston-Salem. The ideal candidate will have an active law license in good standing in the state where practicing with at least 5 years of experience practicing in a law firm or in-house legal department and preferably with patent attorney experience.

The Counsel position is responsible for general application of duties that involve advising key stakeholders including  senior management and other internal clients on firm related issues as part of the general counsel office.  This includes, interpreting laws, rulings and regulations, analyzing probable outcomes based on legal precedents, developing strategies and communicating with both internal and external clients. This position is also responsible for researching and gathering information, having a thorough knowledge of the decisions, ordinances and statutes of the issue/matter under review, preparing and drafting documents, providing guidance on issues. They must also be skilled in negotiation, interpretation of the law and act as an agent for the firm.  Counsel should also be knowledgeable of case management (corporate, litigation, IP)and should be able to clearly articulate with clients on issues. Counsel should also have experience handling conflictresolution and secondment agreements.
