February 17, 2023
Location: San Francisco, Silicon Valley (Menlo Park), Walnut Creek
Practice: (FIRM) Firm

Abbott's 1L Diversity Summer Internship Program gives rising 2L students the opportunity to gain substantive legal experience in both law firm and an in-house legal setting.

The program will consist generally of five to six weeks spent at Kilpatrick Townsend in either KTS Silicon Valley (Menlo Park) or San Francisco office, and the remaining time in-house with Abbott at their Santa Clara CA Headquarters. KTS will employ you for the full duration of the program (10 weeks).

At KTS, you will have the opportunity to do substantive patent work on a variety of projects throughout the program, acquiring new skills and gaining invaluable legal law firm experience. You will participate in all aspects of the KTS 2023 Summer Associate program, including dedicated progress evaluations. The Summer Committee members in each office serve as mentors for the course of the program providing guidance for evaluations, assigning work, and coaching you.

At Abbott, you will work in close collaboration with IP Legal team members to strategically develop our worldwide patent portfolio and will be exposed to the perspectives and opportunities of working as an in-house attorney. Abbott is a global healthcare leader that helps people live more fully at all stages of life. Our portfolio of life-changing technologies spans the spectrum of healthcare, with leading businesses and products in medical devices, diagnostics, nutritionals and branded generic medicines. Our 115,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries.
