Government Relations Advisor (RAL)

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP is seeking a federal Government Relations Advisor to join our Government Relations and Regulatory team. The Government Relations Advisor will assist and work with the team to provide federal and state government relations and regulatory services to clients across various sectors. The position is Raleigh, NC based, and involve travel as necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and researching legislative and regulatory developments of interest to clients.
  • Drafting memorandum, policy briefs, letters, talking points, and other materials for clients.
  • Drafting legislative alerts, articles, and political updates.
  • Attending Congressional hearings and drafting summaries of hearings.
  • Communicating, coordinating, and attending meetings with Congress as well as other political events.
  • Assuming other legislative functions in support of clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the federal government, campaign or political fields, federal advocacy entity, or other related field.
  • Strong understanding of the political and legislative process.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Associate General Counsel – Conflicts is responsible for identifying and facilitating the avoidance and resolution of conflicts and ethical issues that may arise through the intake of new clients or new matters or the hiring of new or lateral attorneys. This includes developing related policies and procedures to ensure timely resolution of conflicts and ethical issues through increased awareness of risk management, communicating well verbally and in writing with key stakeholders inside the firm as well as potential candidates and strategic partners outside the firm, and ensuring conflicts analyses and business intake considerations are managed efficiently to meet internal/external timelines.
